Medication templates are extremely beneficial for improving efficiencies with generating dispensing instructions that populate on prescription labels.
Creating a Medication Template:
1. Select the Management tab, then select the Manage Medication Templates widget.
2. You may see a list of existing medication templates on the left side of your screen under the Description box. If that's the case, follow step 2b, otherwise, proceed to step 2a.
2a. Begin typing your prescription instructions, and then select Add as a New Template. Then select the newly added template from the left side of the screen, insert any dynamic tags where you want the variable prompts, and then select Save Template. To create another template, see step 2b.
- Example: Give ___ tablet by mouth every ___ hours for ___ days.
Important Note: If you don't see the prompt update right away after it's been saved, you may have to refresh your screen. It is also not recommended to associate any Items/Services to a medication template at this time.
2b. Select one of the existing templates from the left side of the screen so that it appears in the Description field, and then select Add as a New Template to duplicate the template. Then select the newly duplicated template from the list on the left side of the screen, alter the new prompt to include the new instructions, insert any dynamic tags where you want the variable prompts, and then select Save Template.

Important Note: If you don't see the prompt update right away after it's been saved, you may have to refresh your screen. It is also not recommended to associate any Items/Services to a medication template at this time.
