Hippo Manager allows you to designate a tax-exempt status at the customer level, item level, or on specific sales.
How to make a customer Tax Exempt:

In the Client Information widget, found with the Choose Action, Patient Tab, or Quicklinks. select the customer and click the edit pencil in the lower right corner within that screen, or simply double click the client's name to open the pet owners' information.

Under the section labeled Taxable, select No from the drop-down.

Click Ok to save.

How to Make an Item Tax Exempt:

Through the Administration tab, click the Items and Services widget, find the item you wish to update.

Click Edit under the Modify column to the right.

Within that Edit an Item or Service screen, scroll to the Item Pricing section, and Enable the Non-taxable toggle (under Taxes).

How to Make a Sale Tax Exempt:

From the Invoice, on the right side of the Sales Register screen, towards the upper right corner, click the Sale Taxable toggle so that it is on the left-hand side and grayed out.

The invoice will autosave these changes.
